about

Okay, so I can almost hear you screaming: “Yeah yeah, songs for Nathalie, and for Eve, but what about Lily?”

This is a song written for Lily my youngest daughter, she was born in October, on our Wedding anniversary! Which sadly was also the anniversary of Nathalie’s mother’s death a few years before Lily was born. Since Lily was not actually expected on that day I like to imagine that her Grandmother helped her be born on that day so we could have it back as a day to celebrate.

I was trying to capture both Lily’s playfulness, her energy and her brilliance, and of course being born in the Autumn, Lily is definitely my Autumn Rose.

Also Lily likes my simple guitar melodies, so this one has loads of that in the mix!

lyrics

VERSE 1:

Now that the storm clouds are gathering
Even as Summer slips away
I can still feel the sun light on my face
Even through the skies are filled with grey

CHORUS:

There is a chill coming to the air
Even as winter starts to blow
I can still find beauty everywhere
You are my fine autumn rose

VERSE 2:

Now that the home fires are quickening
Winter shall shorten the days
All of the colours fade but you remain
You are my wild autumn rose

No autotune - EVER!

You may notice I use lots of harmonies in vocal overdubs, but it is always just my voice with maybe some echo and a little bit of reverb!!!!!
