about

Sometimes I fall into certain habits when writing. I tend to think of these songs as being essentially “pleas to the world” (the kind of pleading songwriters seem incapable of avoiding for the most part).

Making Paradise is one of those sort of songs, but it was intended to have an uplifting feel, upbeat, and I am actually quite proud of the emotional resonance, and of the hook!

lyrics

VERSE 1:

Do you think there’s a paradise anywhere
A place we’d all want to be

If we all want paradise anyway
I think we can find it in the place we call me

CHORUS:

The air is getting thin
But I can smell the rain
The clouds are scattering
A mist as fine as pain

We might make paradise
We might just make a start
And hope its seed takes root
Inside every heart

VERSE 2:

I think if there’s a paradise anywhere
We might just scream and shout
That we never even saw a thing

No autotune - EVER!

You may notice I use lots of harmonies in vocal overdubs, but it is always just my voice with maybe some echo and a little bit of reverb!!!!!
