Strange Kind of Blue - Live Acoustic

about

I don’t often just click record and go with whatever comes out. You all know how much I love my vocal harmonies and guitar over-dubs, but this song really only needed to be played, simple and direct, just a live acoustic recording.

I wrote this one because it tells how I feel about the way things are for me right now. It’s a “strange” kind of blue because I am so very blessed by the family I have, by my beautiful and wonderful wife, and by my adorable and gorgeous daughters, so although things have been difficult for a while because of my ongoing health issues, I am still just about the luckiest man alive - and I know it, which makes my mood a very strange kind of blue indeed!

lyrics

VERSE 1:

They captured a daydream
Told us to run along and play
Chained us to tables and chairs
With nothing but promises

And when we ask questions
As everyone does
They answer in riddles
The ones that they must

CHORUS:

I stare out of windows
The light looks so new
but my life is just
A strange kind of blue

We all see rainbows
The colours are so true
Still the world has become
A strange kind of blue

VERSE 2:

What will it take to move you
What will make you stand your ground
Do you want anything at all
Other than what you already have

Can you ask the questions
Like everyone does
Without knowing the answers
We have to trust

No autotune - EVER!

You may notice I use lots of harmonies in vocal overdubs, but it is always just my voice with maybe some echo and a little bit of reverb!!!!!
