about

Since as a species we are all about 12 then it stands to reason that all soldiers are child soldiers

Problem with that is we keep expecting them to do unspeakable things on demand, and not be unduly troubled by it. Have you seen the statistics for ex-servicemen and women committing suicide?

I’m afraid all the Toy Soldiers fall down, but the flesh and blood children we send to do the worst things on our behalf - the Real Soldiers - they don’t just fall down, the bleed, they suffer, they kill, they scream, they puke, they piss themselves and shit themselves on the battlefield, and then when they return home we treat them like they should have acted like the toy soldiers we are all so comfortable playing with.

lyrics

VERSE 1:

We got endless trouble
No safety nets
Got switch-back morals
And selfishness

Who wants to place a bet
When the odds aren’t in your favour yet

And I’ve been doing just fine
Marching in straight lines
Being careful not to see
The purpose of anything

Life’s better without uncertainty

CHORUS:

All the toy soldiers
They all fall down
All the toy soldiers
They all fall down

VERSE 2:

I see self-satisfaction
And competition guile
So insincere with their
Shark-like smiles

We always suffer while
They never ever go to trial

And the good men and the true
Say there’s nothing they can do
While they carry on as usual
Working hard to pay their dues

They never get their clues
Even when they watch the evening news

No autotune - EVER!

You may notice I use lots of harmonies in vocal overdubs, but it is always just my voice with maybe some echo and a little bit of reverb!!!!!
